まず、基本的に「学校の勉強」つまり数学や英語や理科や社会の知識は「ゼロ」だと考えて下さい。そのほとんどが小学校低学年レベルで止まっています。足し算・引き算・かけ算・割り算などの四則演算ができない子供も珍しくありません。

それどころか、いわゆる「常識」が欠落している子が大量にいます。

例えば僕の生徒には

「植物が育つには水が必要」

という知識を知らない子供がいました。高校生の話です。「干ばつによって凶作が起きた」という内容の文章（小4の問題）が全く理解できていない様子だったので、「どこから理解できていないのか？」を詳しく調べた結果、上の知識が欠落していることが判明しました。
