ヨーロッパの中世の戦いというと、巨大な軍馬を操る騎士たちの激突をイメージするかもしれない。だが、実際の戦場では、もっと可愛らしい、ポニーのような馬が活躍していたようだ。

　英エクセター大学の考古学者チームが、イギリスで発見された中世の馬の骨を分析したところ、ほとんどの馬の体高は140センチ程度だったことが判明したのだ。

ナポレオンは、時の権力者であったため絵画や彫刻など残されている作品は、ほどんどが良いように誇張されていました。

実際は、若くして髪も薄く、太っており身長は170㎝に満たない背格好でした。
また馬にまたがっているイメージが強いですが、馬に乗ることも出来なかったという説もあります。
したがって実物の表現で描かれたものは、彼の死後のものです。
