１月１９日、迷いクジラの「ヨドちゃん」が海へと還りました。
大阪の淀川河口付近に突然姿を現したマッコウクジラ。最初は元気な姿を見せ、多くの人から「ヨドちゃん」と呼ばれていました。しかし、１月１３日に死んでいることが確認されました。

「ヨドちゃん大好き。天国でずっと見といてねっていう気持ちを伝えたいです」
学術調査の結果、クジラは体長約１５ｍ、体重３８トン、おとなのオスで、病気の有無など詳しい死因は不明ですが、外傷はなかったということです。クジラの皮膚や歯のほか、胃に残っていた「イカのくちばし」などを採取し、生息地や年齢などを調べるということです。
１月１９日の午前５時前、クジラは船に載せられて大阪港を出発し、紀伊水道を南下。和歌山県白浜町の沖に到着し、ついにお別れの時を迎えました。午後３時７分、ゆっくり船の底が開くと、クジラは海の中へ…。
