<コチニール色素>

サボテンに付くエンジムシから抽出した、カルミン酸を主成分としたアントラキノン系の赤色色素です。南米ではインカ帝国の時代から衣服や装飾に使用されている他、カンパリ（酒）の着色にも利用されています。

<ラック色素>

ラッカイン酸を主成分としたアントラキノン系の赤色色素です。ラックカイガラムシ（雌）の分泌する樹脂状物質から抽出した色素で、中国では古くから胡臙脂（こえんじ）と呼ばれ、親しまれています。
