　米Twitterのイーロン・マスクCEOは12月11日（現地時間）、Twitterの現行の文字数制限280字（全角140文字）を撤廃し、
4000字に拡張する考えを示した。Twitterユーザーからの「Twitterの文字数が280字から4000字に増えるのは本当ですか？」の質問に対し、「Yes」と回答している。

　マスクCEOは11月6日にも「メモ帳のスクリーンショット（を添付する）という愚行は終わりだ」とし、
長文のテキストをツイートに添付できる機能の追加を予告していた。具体的な実装方法や文字数については言及していなかった。

　マスクCEOがTwitter社を買収する以前の6月に同社は、画像やツイートを組み込める長文ブログ投稿機能「Twitter Notes」のテストを北米や英国の一部ユーザーに提供していた。
マスクCEOは予告した新機能について「（Twitter Notesと）似たようなもの」（Something like that）としている。
