警察によると、午後１１時ごろ、堺市東区草尾の住宅で、この家に住む６０歳の男性が、水を飲みに台所に行ったところ、見知らぬ男が椅子に座って、冷凍食品のパスタなどを食べているのに出くわした。男は、この家にあったＴシャツを勝手に着ていて、男性が話しかけると「玄関から入ってきた」などと答え、逃げようとして暴れたため、同居する男性の父親が１１０番通報。男性と隣に住む弟が一緒に、男を取り押さえたという。警察官が駆けつけると、取り押さえられた男は、意識を失っていて約１時間後、搬送先の病院で死亡した。
男は所持品などから、大阪府内に住む３０代とみられ、警察は身元の確認を進めるとともに、詳しい状況を調べている。
