アメリカのミシガン州デトロイトのベルアイル（Belle Isle）公園に新しくできた巨大な滑り台が話題となっている。
この滑り台は真っ直ぐに滑り降りるのでは無く、6箇所のジャンプ台のような起伏によりピョンピョン跳ねながら滑り下りるというもの。
しかし映像を見ると滑りおりている人は皆腰や体を強く打っており、非常に危険。
この滑り台は有料で、1ドル支払いまた身長121cm以上じゃないと滑りおりることが出来ないという制限がある。
運用は金曜日から日曜日の11時～19時までを予定していた。巨大滑り台が出来たその日は多くの人が滑り降りるために列を作ったという。
しかし、滑り降りた人の多くは滑り台に叩き付けられるという想定外のことが起きてしまった。そう運営している
Healthy Kidz Inc.とミシガン州天然資源部はこのことを想定していなかったのだ。
結局3時間ほどで運営は中断されてしまい、現在は滑りおりることは出来ず、再整備中だという。公園の関係者は
「よくわからないけど速度に問題があるようで、運営をしばらく中断する」とし「いくつかの調整後に滑り降りる速度を遅くして
楽しめるように努力する」と語った。
