都内の男性（46）は昨年、退職を余儀なくされた。7カ月の育休から復帰後、会社に居場所はなかった。
経理部門で働いていた3年前、妻の第2子妊娠がわかった。妻と当時2歳だった長男は体が弱く、男性は定時で帰れる「時短勤務」を続けていた。「妻の負担を考えれば、育休を取得しないと家庭が回らない」と思った。
人事部からは「ぜひ取得を」と言われたが、50歳代の女性上司は「奥さん1人で子育てができないのはおかしい」と言った。育休制度の趣旨を説明しても、理解してもらえなかった。労働組合などにも相談し、7カ月の育休を取った。
復職後、その上司に「あんたの席はないよ」とはっきり言われた。仕事はなくなり、同僚が仕事を回そうとしても、「子育てに忙しい方だから」と上司が割って入った。
人事や組合に異動を願い出たがかなわず、体調を崩して退職した。
「制度が充実しても、理解がない上司が1人いるだけでこんなことが起きる。成功例だけではないと知ってほしい」。
