“Take out”じゃダメなの？「テイクアウト」の正しい英語表現とは
外出自粛の影響で、いろいろなお店が「テイクアウト」サービスを始めていますね。

「お持ち帰り」を意味する「テイクアウト」ですが、「take out」という英語を使うのは一般的ではありません。今回は「テイクアウト」の英語表現をご紹介します。

テイクアウト：to go
実は「テイクアウト」は和製英語です。英語で「テイクアウト」と言いたいときは “to go” を使いましょう。

例） A: I’d like three hamburgers.（＝ハンバーガーを3つください）
B: All right. For here or to go?（＝かしこまりました。店内ですか？それともお持ち帰りですか？）
A: To go, please.（＝テイクアウトでお願いします）

なお、イギリスでは

テイクアウト：take away
という表現を使うことが多いようですよ。両方覚えておきましょう♪
