旧統一教会問題がクローズアップされる中、どうも腑に落ちない「日本人は無宗教」という誤解

■20歳前後の6割以上「死後世界や霊魂の存在を信じる」
私は近年、二十歳前後の若者の宗教観を調査してきた
(2022年、東京農業大学の1～4年生を対象。有効回答数1105)。
例えば、「あなたは死後世界を信じるか」についての設問がある。
そこで、「はい」と回答したのが62％と過半数を占めた。
また、「あなたは霊魂の存在を信じるか」については66％が「信じる」としている。
さらに、「あなたや、あなたの葬式はどの宗教で行うか」では、
「仏教式」が75％と多数を占めた。
「神道式」は6％、キリスト教式は3％、
その他の宗教が3％、
無宗教式が13％だった。
死を迎える時には、仏教のお世話になりたい。そう多くの若者が考えているのは意外だった。
葬儀において何らかの宗教を選択するとの意識は、
それこそ立派な信仰の証しといえるのではないだろうか。
