この発言自体がハラスメントで、問題です。しかし加えてそのときの生徒の返答が頭に残っています。「私だってこんな短くスカートをはきたくない」と。
いろいろ話を聞くと、制服しかない状況で、いわゆるオシャレな着こなしをしているか否かで、所属する集団から弾かれてしまうケースがありまして、これはいわゆる「スクールカースト」につながっていたのでした。
「短くしないと仲間に入れてもらえない。だから仕方なくしているのに、『見たくない』とか言われて悔しくて」とその生徒は泣いていました。複層的な問題でもあるのです。
当時の私は「ああ、全員一律に指導しないからダメなんだ。ちゃんと全員を短くしないように指導しないといけないのだ」と感じました。でも、そもそも制服がなければこのような問題は起きない、と今は考えています。
