元西武で中継ぎ投手を務めた野田昇吾さん（２８）がボートレーサー転身を目指していることが１２日、分かった。
プロ野球選手からの転身は２例目。２０年オフの現役引退後、約６か月で体重２３キロの減量に成功し現在は５２キロ。
第１３１期ボートレーサー試験に合格して１０月から１年間、養成所で鍛錬する。

モンキーターンの頃なら新人がいきなり勝ったりしてたけど今は無理
なんで？
20年ぐらい前ならモンキーターンが開発されたばっかで若いレーサーでもどんどん勝てた
今は技術が成熟してて中堅どころがクソ強い
新人はある程度経験積まんとどうあがいても勝てへん
経験は学校で積むやろ何をぬかしとんのや
