台湾めぐり「戦争ためらわない」 中国国防相、米長官に警告
【AFP＝時事】中国の魏鳳和（Wei Fenghe）国防相は10日、アジア安全保障会議（シャングリラ・ダイアローグ、Shangri-La Dialogue）出席のため訪れたシンガポールでロイド・オースティン（Lloyd Austin）米国防長官と初めて対面で会談し、台湾が独立を宣言した場合、中国は「戦争開始をためらわない」と警告した。
米中間では最近、台湾をめぐる緊張が高まっている。中国国防省の呉謙（Wu Qian）報道官によると、魏氏は「誰であろうと台湾を中国から引き離そうとするなら、中国軍はどのような犠牲を払っても戦争開始をためらわない」と言明。同省によれば、「台湾は中国の台湾」だと強調し、台湾を利用し中国をけん制する試みは「決して奏功しない」と述べたという。
一方、米国防総省によるとオースティン氏は、台湾海峡（Taiwan Strait）の平和と安定の重要性を再確認し、「現状の一方的変更」に反対すると表明。中国に対し、台湾の安定を損なう行動を控えるよう呼び掛けた。
ジョー・バイデン（Joe Biden）米大統領は先月来日した際、記者の質問に回答する形で、中国が台湾に侵攻すれば米国は軍事的に関与すると発言。台湾防衛の意向を明言しない「戦略的曖昧さ」を数十年にわたり維持してきた米国の方針を覆したとみられたが、米政府はその後、方針に変わりはないと釈明していた。【翻訳編集】 AFPBB News
