情報通信研究機構（NICT）は2030年代の実用化を目指す通信規格「6G」について、200億円を投じて22年度中に官民の共同研究を進めるための研究施設を整備する。総務省の6G研究開発促進事業の一環で企業が施設内の設備を使えるようにする。

通信規格「5G」で日本が欧米など海外勢に出遅れたのを踏まえ、日本企業が6Gの基盤技術を開発するのを支援する狙いだ。
