プーチン大統領がウクライナに軍隊を派遣した後、ウクライナの外交官や登山家たちが禁止するよう求めたにもかかわらず、
9人のロシア人にこの春ネパールの峰への登山許可が与えられた。
デリーのウクライナ大使館からネパール政府への外交文書によると、多数の国際スポーツ連盟がロシア人選手を禁止しているという。
「上記のことを考慮し、尊敬するネパール側には、ロシアのウクライナへの侵攻が終わるまで、ロシアの登山チームを禁止するよう親切に要請する」
と、書簡には書かれている。
しかし、ネパールの当局者は、政府の規則や規制を守る人には許可証を発行し続けているという。
ネパール観光局のタラナート・アディカリ局長はBBCの取材に対し、「これまでのところ、我々の方針に変更はない」と述べた。
「私たちは、ネパールの山々は世界的な資産であり、平和を達成するために山々を訪れることを望むいかなる国の国民も、
私たちの法的規定の範囲内でそれを行う限り、それを許可されるべきであると信じています」。
