東京五輪・パラリンピックのボート、カヌー会場「海の森水上競技場」（江東区）で、波を抑える消波装置にカキが大量に付着することが分かり、
悩みの種になっている。重みで装置が沈み、東京都は２０２０年９月までに約１億４千万円を投じて約１４トンのカキを除去。
冬の鍋にもおなじみの食材の好まざる“豊漁”に、都の担当者は「全く想定していなかった」と解決策の検討を余儀なくされている。
