米テキサス州のダラス学区は１８日、児童生徒に対して透明またはメッシュのバックパックで登校することを義務付けると発表した。ユバルディの小学校で起きた銃乱射事件を受け、同州では同様の措置を講じる学区が相次いでいる。
対象となるのはダラス独立学区の学校に通う６年～１２年生の児童生徒。８月に始まる２０２２～２３年度から義務付ける。それ以外のかばんを持ち込むことは認めない。
同学区は「透明やメッシュのバックパックだけで安全不安が解消されるわけではない」と説明。「これは児童生徒と職員の安全を徹底させるための包括的な計画に向けた一歩にすぎない」とした。
