21日午前7時45分ごろ、小国町叶水で、クマ1頭を目撃したと、登校中の女子児童が保護者などを通じて小国署に届け出た。
同署によると、高学年の女子が他の児童4人と歩いていた際、道路に人のような姿を見つけてあいさつしたところ、クマだったという。クマは南側の山林に逃げていった。児童たちはいったん自宅に戻り保護者と共に登校した。現場は叶水小中の北西約180メートル。同署は下校時間帯に付近を巡回し、22日の登校時間帯にもパトロールする。町教育委員会によると、同校ではクマの出没を受け、当面の間、保護者による登下校時の送迎を依頼した。
