「眞子さまのときは『銀座・和光』が2856万円で製作しました。佳子さまのものは、“デザインを重視したい”と、初めて一般の製作業者からデザインの公募が行われました。2893万円で落札したのが、宝飾品大手『ミキモト』の提案したもの。当時、佳子さまのご確認の上で選ばれたのではないかといわれました」（皇室ジャーナリスト）
