また、積極的な店舗展開も業績を押し上げる要因となった。大手4社の店舗数を調査したところ、コロナ前の2019年度末時点で7687店だったのに対し、2022年2月末時点では約8400店（6.4％増）と、2年間で約800店舗増加した。各社とも年間100店超の新規出店を続けており、早ければ2025年度にも1万店を突破するとみられる。
一人当たりの購買額は月600円、10年で1.6倍に増加
100円ショップの一人当たり購買額を推定すると、2021年度（1月まで）は平均で月間635円と推計され、前年を35円上回った。10年前の2011年度は390円だったものの、12年度に400円、その5年後となる17年度には500円に突破。さらにその3年後には600円を上回り、10年で1.6倍に増加した。
総務省の家計消費状況調査によれば、食器やタオルなどの家事雑貨、ティッシュなどの衛生消耗品の21年度消費は前年に比べやや減少傾向で推移するなど、コロナ禍初年となった2020年度のような巣ごもり需要は落ちつきを見せている。ただ、積極的な店舗展開や販売チャネルの多様化で消費者の利用機会が増えているほか、アウトドア用品など日用雑貨以外の商品ラインナップが拡充されたことで顧客層が広がったこと、「150～200円などミドルプライスの購入が増えている」など客単価の上昇も追い風となっている。
